Je T’aime John Wayne
I think it’s safe to say that I’m fairly obsessed with French New Wave cinema. I don’t want to examine this obsession too much, because it’s enjoyable and watching films from the genre causes me to be productive. Sometimes.
For instance, I rented and purchased a bunch of Godard films last semester just so I could take film stills with my Pentax. This evolved into creating my own sequences of images, and I must say I enjoyed every minute of it. I haven’t done this lately, but I’m thinking about doing the same with Mad Men. Don’t steal my idea suckers or I’ll hunt you down. Actually, I kind of unknowingly ripped off John Waters but he doesn’t have to know that.
Anyway, the whole purpose of this post was to share this little short film entitled Je T’aime John Wayne. It’s about a middle class kid in England who is obsessed with French New Wave Cinema and he sort of uses it to escape reality. I only point out the class reference because it’s a theme picked up from New Wave. You might think this is a rip off of Breathless, and you’re probably right, but it’s still an amazing short.
